Status of Andalusian greenhouse crops in the first week of December

The Agricultural and Fisheries Information Service of the Andalusian Regional Government has released its report on the development of greenhouse crops during the first week of December, providing an overview of various growing regions.

Almeria
In Nijar, the tomato harvest is well underway with good-quality fruit. Pepper plants are developing favorably vegetatively, although harvesting is beginning to slow due to early planting. Early courgettes have completed their cycle, partly due to virus issues, while current crops are actively growing and starting to produce, albeit with limited yields.

Cadiz
On the province's northwest coast, harvesting of salad tomatoes has begun, primarily the 1214 variety used in Conil. Some plants have had to be uprooted due to viral issues, and the drop in temperatures means greenhouses can be checked periodically. In the same area, strawberry crops under the arch system are in the fruit-fattening phase after transplanting in September, with densities of 64,000 to 68,000 plants per hectare, with varieties such as LLosana predominating.

Granada
The cherry tomato campaign in Baza has concluded, and growers are getting their greenhouses ready for the next season. This process involves clearing plant debris, collecting drippers, and in some instances, applying manure, all while waiting for water concession from the Negratín reservoir.

Huelva
The earliest strawberries are at various phenological stages, from flower emergence to ripening. The first harvests, including varieties like Airwen, are already on the market. In raspberries, maintenance activities are underway as fruit production begins in areas such as El Condado Litoral and the Coast, with varieties including Amira. Blueberries exhibit diverse developmental stages: some crops are in the fattening and ripening phases, while others are still flowering and setting fruit. Varieties include Ventura, Manila, and Kepler Blue. Recovery efforts are also ongoing on farms affected by excess humidity, yielding positive results in both crop yields and fruit per plant.

Malaga
In Velez-Malaga, courgette harvesting is now widespread, and prices remain stable despite increased volumes. Most tomato crops are in the flowering and fruit-setting stage, with fruits developing. In La Costa, Italian pepper supply has increased, while red and green Lamuyos are less available, keeping prices high.
