Construction has begun on a 144-ha greenhouse complex in Shymkent's Karatau district, financed by Polish investor Fabe-Agro with a total budget of $137 million (69 bn KZT). With a planned greenhouse acreage of 100 hectares, the project will become one of the largest controlled-environment agriculture investments in the region.
Fabe Agro is the horticultural division of Fabe Polska, a construction and landwork company based in Warsaw, Poland. "Our mission is to drive sustainable growth and excellence in modern horticulture", the team shares. "We want to lead the agricultural revolution in Kazakhstan by implementing sustainable, technologically advanced greenhouse systems that maximize yield while minimizing environmental impact."

Building process
The site is currently undergoing infrastructure and utilities installation. The facility will include seven modern greenhouses and a nursery, designed for year-round production of vegetables and fruits.
"Currently, work has begun on the delivery of the necessary infrastructure network. This complex will become one of the largest agro-industrial facilities in the city. After the project is launched, 36 thousand tons of vegetables will be produced here per year and about a thousand new jobs will be created, the team explained.
The first pile was driven on December 3rd by the mayor of Shymkent, Gabit Syzdykbekov, who, together with the management of the company, took part in the capsule laying ceremony. The head of the megalopolis noted that this project will make a significant contribution to the development of Shymkent's agro-industrial complex and significantly strengthen the food security of the region. The city mayor also announced that support for investors who create new production facilities and jobs will continue.
The project will be executed in phases from 2025 to 2028, with the full launch scheduled for 2028.
The greenhouse is being developed as part of a public–private partnership, and marks Fabe-Agro's first major horticultural venture; the company is a newly established agricultural branch of Poland's Fabe Polska, known for infrastructure and road-construction projects.
