Uzbekistan signs natural gas supply contracts with greenhouse operators under new environmental decree

Following the recently introduced emergency air-quality measures in Tashkent, the government has moved to secure natural-gas supply agreements for greenhouse operators in and around the capital. These measures, enacted under a Presidential Decree, require all greenhouses to transition from solid-fuel heating to natural gas as part of a broader emissions-reduction initiative.

JSC Hududgaztaʼminot is formalizing tripartite agreements with greenhouse operators to ensure uninterrupted gas delivery. So far, 68 greenhouse farms covering 173.1 hectares have completed the contracting process through Public Service Centers, and gas supply has been fully activated.

In addition, authorities have concluded heat-energy supply contracts with 34 greenhouse operations in the Zangiata district and 66 in the Qibray district, providing thermal energy in the required volumes. All greenhouses currently connected to the national gas network are receiving gas without interruption.

A joint task force recently inspected 32 greenhouses in the Tashkent district. The team identified 10 coal-heated facilities without required air-filtration systems and three cases of illegal waste burning. Official violation reports were issued, and operations at the 10 non-compliant greenhouses were suspended.
