Mexico: Finka makes the leap from intuition to Artificial Intelligence

Located in Queretaro, Mexico, Finka is one of the country's leading greenhouse companies, known for its focus on innovation, sustainability, and premium tomato production.

At its San Antonio site, covering 21.6 hectares of glass greenhouses, Finka introduced IIVO in 2020 to optimize climate control and resource use. A year later, the Intelligent Algorithms were added to push precision and automation even further.

Today, Finka shares how this technological evolution has led to measurable results and a more efficient way of growing.

By combining IIVO's advanced climate control with Intelligent Algorithms that proactively adjust greenhouse conditions, Finka has achieved progress in productivity and sustainability with 18.5% higher production, 19% less fertilizer use, 22% energy savings, and 4.5% less water use.

"IIVO allowed us to understand some of the things we used to do based on feeling and turn them into reality through data analysis. This changed the way we produce and made our use of resources much more efficient," said Jorge del Toro, CEO at Finka.

Darek Blajer, grower at Finka, also shares that beyond the impressive results, the Intelligent Algorithms have given him greater freedom. Instead of spending hours in front of a computer, he can now focus on the crop itself.

"What I like the most about IIVO is its adaptability and flexibility. With the system, I can set up most of my strategies. In the morning, I no longer need to enter parameters or make calculations. I can focus more on walking through the crop, talking with the team, and thinking about new strategies," Darek said.

From finance perspective, Jorge Lazarini explains that the system has improved forecasting for harvests, sales, and expenses, helping to optimize cash flow:

"We know when the harvest will come, when we'll be able to collect the revenue, and we also have a clear understanding of how expenses are being generated. This has been a great help for managing our cash flow," explains Jorge.

Finka's experience shows that advanced climate control goes beyond optimizing the greenhouse. It strengthens the productivity and reliability of the entire business. With accurate forecasting of production and revenue, Finka can plan with confidence and guarantee its customers both consistency in volume and excellence in quality.
