Ukraine sees rising wholesale prices for greenhouse cucumbers amid supply shortage

Wholesale prices for greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine increased by an average of 10% over the past week, reaching 85–110 UAH/kg (€1.73-2.04) by late November 2025, according to Finway.

The price surge has continued for several weeks and is driven primarily by a sharp reduction in supply. Most Ukrainian greenhouse growers have already finished sales of their current-season harvest, leaving the market with limited volumes of high-quality cucumbers.

Despite the shortage, retail chains maintain stable demand, choosing Ukrainian cucumbers over imported ones. Import products are generally of lower quality, leading retailers to accept higher prices for domestic produce.

Demand for high-quality cucumbers allows producers to gradually raise prices while still keeping buyers loyal. Even with recent growth, Ukrainian cucumbers remain at least 10% cheaper than in the same period of 2024.

Analysts note that if the deficit of quality produce persists, wholesale prices may continue to rise in the coming weeks.
