Trump's tariff reduction benefits less than 2% of the tomatoes consumed in the U.S.

The Mexican Association of Protected Horticulture (AMPHAC) clarified that the tariff reduction announced by the U.S. does not benefit Mexican tomatoes, as the Executive Order applies to 'reciprocal tariffs' that Mexico and Canada don't pay because they are part of the T-MEC. "Mexican exports face a 17.09% dumping duty, not a tariff."

In its statement, the organization emphasized that the measure benefits "Guatemala, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and other countries that, collectively, account for less than 2% of the tomatoes consumed in the U.S."

"If President Trump truly wants to lower prices for Americans, he should negotiate with Mexico to reduce or eliminate the anti-dumping duty on Mexican tomatoes."
