Cambodia: First modern vegetable farming community launched in Preah Sdach

The first Preah Sdach modern farming community for vegetables was established in Preah Sdach district, Prey Veng province, comprising over 170 participating families and 251 net houses across 10 hectares. The first general assembly of the Preah Sdach Modern Farming Community for Vegetables was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Khim Finan, Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF).

The ceremony was also attended by Hy Bavy, Royal Government Delegate in charge of the General Directorate of the Phnom Penh Autonomous Port; Ouk Samnang, Director of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Prey Veng province; experts from the Department of Agricultural Community Development; local authorities, commune agricultural officials and approximately 135 farmers.

Finan congratulated the growers for recognizing the benefits of forming a modern farming community for vegetable production, allowing them to secure market prices in advance, reduce production costs, and access both capital and technical support.

"Preah Sdach Modern Farming Community for Vegetables, established today, consists of 171 participating families with 251 net houses on 10 hectares for vegetable cultivation. In the future, the community plans to expand its production by raising cattle and increasing rice yields," said Finan.
