The second phase of the Polpithigama Greenhouse Project of Ceylon Green Life Plantation was inaugurated on 8 November under the patronage of Chairperson Marlon Francis Peterse and Director of Human Resources Nimanthika Wickramasinghe.
The greenhouse cultivation project, which was 20,000 square feet in size under the first phase, has been expanded to 36,000 square feet under the second phase. In this new phase, high-quality crops such as tomatoes, chilli peppers, eggplants and muriya are being planted, and environmentally friendly cultivation using modern technology is being implemented.
This project will not only meet consumer needs for the urban market but will also open up new knowledge and job opportunities in the field of agricultural innovation. Ceylon Green Life Plantation's other greenhouse projects are also operating in the Tangalle and Bandarawela areas, and it has now been possible to obtain very high yields from those projects as well.
