Spanish imports of fresh fruit and vegetables from Morocco reached 416559 tons through August this year, a 34% year on year increase. Purchases in value grew at the same pace, rising to 952.6 million euros, further strengthening Morocco's position as Spain's leading non EU supplier in value terms.
According to the latest data from the Customs and Special Taxes Department, processed by Fepex, imports of fresh produce from Morocco rose thirty four percent in both volume and value compared to the same period in 2024. Totals reached 416559 tons and 952.6 million euros, respectively. Over the past five years of the period analyzed, Spain's purchases from Morocco have increased eight percent in volume, up from 385058 tons from January to August 2021 to 416559 tons in the same period of 2025. In value, imports have grown fifty eight percent, from 602 million euros to 952.6 million euros.
The statistics underline Morocco's steady rise as Spain's top supplier in value and second in volume. Moroccan produce accounts for twenty six percent of Spain's total fruit and vegetable import bill, which reached 3701 million euros through August, a fourteen percent increase. Of this amount, seventy percent or 2548 million euros came from non EU countries, with Morocco representing thirty eight percent of Spain's imports from those origins.
