Uzbekistan and World Bank discuss expansion of agricultural collaboration

Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Alisher Shukurov, met with Holger Kray, Practice Manager for Agriculture and Food at the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia, to review ongoing cooperation and outline new areas of partnership.

During the meeting, the sides discussed:

  • Further implementation of existing World Bank–funded agricultural programs in Uzbekistan;
  • Preparation of new joint projects focused on sector modernization.
  • Monitoring of current investment initiatives aligned with the country's agricultural development strategy.

The discussion specifically covered ongoing projects such as "Agriculture Modernization in Uzbekistan" and "Agribusiness Development in the Ferghana Valley", which support intensive orchard systems, modern irrigation technologies, energy-efficient greenhouses, and fruit-and-vegetable processing improvements.

The two parties agreed to continue work on all current commitments, develop additional investment projects, and expand scientific and technological cooperation aimed at increasing productivity and strengthening value-chain development in Uzbekistan's horticultural sector.
