The "Auyl Amanaty" initiative in the Turkestan Region has supported 1,097 rural projects since early 2025, covering greenhouse operations, crop processing ventures, and livestock farms, reports 24KZ.
In Shubarsu village, land allocations of nearly seven hectares have been provided for greenhouse production. Local farmers are now producing tomatoes, cucumbers, and strawberries, supplying fresh produce to regional markets. Preferential loans at 2.5% interest have facilitated the development of these operations, with total funding in the Ordabasy district reaching 1.5 billion tenge (€2,4M) over two years.
Otegen Syzdykov carefully harvests ripe tomatoes in his greenhouse. "Harvest is good. We collect one to one and a half tons twice a week, and buyers purchase directly from the greenhouse at 850 tenge per kilogram (€1.40)," a farmer said. His farm in Shubarsu village benefits from the program's preferential loan scheme, receiving 9 million tenge at 2.5% interest and a free land allocation.
Another farmer added, "We grow cucumbers as a family business. Demand is good, and the income is enough to support our household. Current market price is around 900 tenge per kilogram (€1.50)."
The program has enabled small and medium-sized farms to expand crop production and livestock activities previously inaccessible due to limited resources. Across the region, more than 3,500 jobs have been created, while new initiatives in horticulture, including strawberry cultivation, continue to emerge, supporting income generation and broader rural economic development.
