Taking greenhouse expertise to Latin America

From September 30 to October 19, Marco Molenaar, Agronomist at Haifa North West Europe and a key member of Haifa's Modern Greenhouse Task Force, carried out an extensive professional tour across Ecuador, Colombia, and Mexico.

This special journey marked another milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Haifa experts worldwide, building upon the successful professional seminar held in Colombia two years ago. Responding to the invitation from Haifa Colombia, Marco returned to the region to present advances in soilless cultivation and nutrient management, and to train local agronomists, distributors, and growers.

From greenhouse innovation to local practice
Accompanied by local Haifa teams and distributors, Marco visited farms cultivating a wide range of crops – from hydroponic lettuce and to tomato and cut flowers – learning about local growing practices and offering on-site advice and insights. These visits provided a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge, combining the cutting-edge expertise of North-West European greenhouse systems with the dynamic agricultural environments of Latin America.

Marco emphasized the importance of Haifa's precision approach to fertilization, which integrates advanced products, accurate application, and comprehensive understanding of crop needs and growth parameters. This holistic strategy, he noted, is central to Haifa's mission to maximize nutrient use efficiency and sustainability in modern soilless agriculture. Marco presented Haifa's advanced products for soilless cultivation systems, focusing on Haifa polyphosphate products – GrowClean and VitaPhos, which are highly efficient phosphorus sources that ensure nutrient availability while protecting irrigation and water systems.
