Looking back at the 2025 Nordic Horti Forum

Following the success of last year's Nordic Horti Forum in Malmö, this year's second edition took place on Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 October in Gothenburg.

The Nordic Horti Forum is an initiative by Biobest, Signify, Svensson, Grodan, BASF Nunhems and Priva.

It was great to see that many of the growers who participated last year joined again this year. The Nordic Horti Forum has clearly established itself as a meeting place for Scandinavian growers to exchange knowledge and foster collaboration.

Inspiration and knowledge sharing
On Wednesday, growers from Finland, Norway, Denmark, Latvia and Sweden were welcomed at the Svensson headquarters. Anders Ludvigson, CEO of Svensson, opened the event with a warm welcome, after which moderator Matthijs van den Beukel guided the audience through the day's program. The first presentation was given by Peter Kamp (Priva), titled "The Past, the Present and the Future of Growing." This was followed by an update on energy-efficient tomato cultivation, presented by Stiina Kotiranta (Signify) and Jos Beerens (Grodan).

After the coffee break, Marcel Huibers (BASF Nunhems) shared an inspiring case study on data-driven cucumber cultivation. In the afternoon, participants were divided into smaller groups for a tour of Svensson's climate screen production process, followed by short carousel pitches where the organizing companies presented their latest innovations.

Energy, dehumidification and collaboration
The second day focused on dehumidification, profitable growing strategies, and the future of the horticultural sector. Frank Kempkes (WUR) presented the results of research on dehumidification and energy savings under high light intensities and cold weather conditions. Afterwards, Jack Groenewegen and Stefan van Vliet (Growers United) shared the inspiring story of 30 years of cooperation within Prominent, and how the cooperative is preparing for the future.

Beyond sharing knowledge, there was time for networking and experience exchange, making it a valuable gathering for the Nordic growers.

Next year's edition of the event will take place in October again.
