India: Haryana encouraging growers to cultivate horticultural crops

Haryana farmers are being encouraged by the state government to cultivate horticultural crops, for which the Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini-led-administration is introducing new provisions.

Under the initiative, farmers are being motivated to engage in the cultivation of fruits, vegetables, flowers, and spices; this includes activities such as establishing new fruit orchards, cultivating vegetables through an integrated model, growing fruit crops, spices, and aromatic plants, said a spokesperson of the Horticulture Department.

"The subsidy amount will be directly transferred to the farmer's bank account. The maximum limit for subsidy assistance is up to 5 acres," he said.

Farmers wishing to access the benefits of these schemes—including details on the application process and subsidy limits for specific areas—can register on the Meri Fasal-Mera Byora and Hortnet portals. The Hortnet site address is hortnet.hortharyana.gov.in.
