Greenhouses allocated to women on World Women Farmers Day

On October 15, International Women Farmers' Day, Hakkari Governor Ali Celik attended the Greenhouse Delivery Ceremony in the Merzan area and gave 18 of the 47 greenhouses to women farmers. "It's extremely valuable that our women farmers, our mothers, are a part of production," Governor Celik stated during the occasion. "In this sense, we have a lot of faith in you. Because when a woman touches a work, it becomes unique."

During a Mother's Day meeting with farmer mothers last year, Governor Celik recalled that women producers had asked for assistance with greenhouses, stating, "The promise made that day is being fulfilled today." In this case, 75% of the grant support came from three initiatives created by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry under the Hakkari Governorate's authority and authorized by the Provincial Special Administration. A total of 47 greenhouses—21 in the heart of Hakkari, 7 in Durankaya Town, and 19 in Yuksekova District—were allocated to growers as part of the initiative.

"It's very valuable that our women growers, our mothers, are a part of production," Governor Celik stated, speaking to women. "We are proud of you since you put forth endless effort to create and guarantee a better future for our children."

Similar work is being done in the Cukurca district, according to Governor Celik, who also mentioned that 18 greenhouses are in the project implementation stage and would be prepared for the upcoming production season. "We aim to increase the number of greenhouses from around 200 to 400 in the short term, and then to 1,000," Celik stated, highlighting the expansion of greenhouse farming throughout Hakkari.
