A major step has been taken toward transforming Katwijk's greenhouse region. Pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly is setting up operations in the area, marking the beginning of a new phase in turning the traditional horticultural zone into a modern, sustainable place to live and work.
"This is a fantastic milestone in the development of the Zijlhoek / De Woerd area in Katwijk," says real estate agent Vollebregt Barten. "With Eli Lilly's arrival, we've taken a big step forward in creating a future-proof landscape that combines innovation, business, and community."

Since the project began in 2020, Vollebregt Barten has worked closely with local landowners to create a unified plan for redevelopment. "After a careful selection process, we chose to partner with RED Company, and together we've worked hard to make this transformation a success," the company explains.
Three local growers also played an important role in shaping the plans. "We managed to align the ambitions of both the municipality and the province, resulting in a project we can all be proud of."
Vollebregt Barten concludes, "Our long-standing experience in area development and our partnership with RED Company have led to a successful sale and a wonderful step forward for both Katwijk and the Netherlands."
