During the 2024/2025 season, cucumber became Almeria's top fruit and vegetable export for the first time, surpassing pepper, which had held that position since the 2016/2017 season. Meanwhile, pepper overtook tomato, which had been the leading export until nine seasons ago.
According to the report compiled by Hortoinfo from data from the Estacom statistical service (Icex-Tax Agency), Almeria's operators exported a total of 2,755 million kilos of fruit and vegetables between August 1, 2024, and July 31, 2025.
Cucumber led exports with a record 566.09 million kilos, becoming the province's top-selling product.
Pepper ranked second with 520.98 million kilos, after eight straight seasons at the top.
Tomato, which has been the symbol of Almeria's exports for years, ranked third with 392.52 million kilos exported last season.
Watermelon ranked fourth with 353.99 million kilos, followed by courgette with 323.25 million kilos.
Aubergines ranked sixth with 146.46 million kilograms, while melons ranked seventh with 69.99 million kilograms sent to international markets during the 2024/2025 season.
