US: UF/IFAS announces horticultural programs for November 2025

The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office has announced the following Commercial Horticulture programs for November 2025. This program is being offered by Commercial Horticulture Agent Tatiana Sanchez-Jones.

Beekeeping Series – Beginner Beekeeping – Nov. 1, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the UF/IFAS Honeybee Research and Extension Laboratory (1881 Natural Area Dr., Gainesville)

This nationally award-winning workshop series has been taken by over 500 participants and is designed for beginner and intermediate beekeepers. The Beginner Beekeeping class is the first of a series of four workshops that will help beekeepers manage the needs of the hive throughout the year. In this class, the focus will be on honeybee biology, equipment, and hive inspection.

After the smoker demonstration, participants' clothes may have absorbed the smell, so plan accordingly and dress in protective clothing (closed-toe shoes, long sleeves, or a beekeeping suit).

Registration for the course is available at the link here.

Master Irrigator Drip Irrigation Short Course – Nov. 13, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Bell Community Center (1180 N. Main St., Bell). Agents in the Suwannee Valley Region are offering this program.

This workshop is designed to provide growers with the latest applied information on drip irrigation.

The short course will cover soil moisture sensors, irrigation system design and maintenance, fertigation, and automated irrigation. The program educates growers on practical irrigation techniques that help them conserve water, reduce input costs, and maintain or increase yields.

Registration for this course is available here. The class is limited to 20 participants.
