From January to September 2025, Azerbaijan exported 574,303 tonnes of fruits and vegetables, up 30.8% compared to the same period in 2024, according to the State Customs Committee. The total export value grew by 31.3%, reaching $602.5 million, accounting for 3.24% of the country's overall exports.
During the same period, imports of fruits and vegetables totaled 270,782 tonnes, worth $218.5 million, reflecting increases of 5.5% and 11.6%, respectively.
One of the key drivers of export growth has been potato shipments, which rose by 47% year-on-year to 70,916 tonnes. The value of potato exports reached $28.2 million, compared to $20.5 million a year earlier, a 37.7% increase.
However, while exports are expanding, domestic prices for fruits and vegetables have surged sharply. Market traders and consumers report noticeable price hikes even during the harvest season. Sellers attribute the increase to adverse weather conditions that affected yields, as well as export demand and crop diseases that reduced supply to local markets.
Analysts note that prices for fruits and vegetables in Azerbaijan are unlikely to decline soon.
