A new harmful bug found in greenhouses of pepper and cucumber growers

Last year, the first reports emerged of a new type of stink bug that could potentially cause even more damage to bell pepper crops than Nezara viridula — the Halyomorpha halys, better known as the brown marmorated stink bug. What once seemed like a distant threat now appears to be getting much closer. This year, several Belgium bell pepper growers, and even one cucumber grower, have reported finding the pest in their greenhouses, where it has already caused significant damage to the fruit.

Belgium publication Proeftuinnieuws (€) is investigating the spread and the damage of the new pest.
