Malaysian Technology Development Corporation launches new CEA facility

Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) have launched the Plant Factory – UPM–MTDC Signature Programme at UPM, formalising a facility that has been operational since January 2025.

The controlled-environment agriculture (CEA) living lab integrates smart management systems and Industry 4.0 technologies to ensure consistent crop quality and accelerate the journey from research to market.

As more Malaysians move into urban areas, resilient and technology-driven food supply chains have become essential to ensure sustainable access to fresh produce for both households and SMEs.

Today's launch also coincides with the closing of Persidangan Komuniti Pertanian Kebangsaan (PKPK), held in conjunction with the event at UPM, Serdang.
