As Spain positions itself as a preferred supplier of fruit and vegetable products to Europe, its logistics sector remains at the forefront in terms of experience, reliability, and sustainability. Primafrio is one of the leading companies in Murcia within the framework of the agri-food sector's growth.
Primafrio is mostly devoted to the transport of fruit and vegetable products from Spain and Portugal to the most relevant destinations in Europe, working for the main supermarket chains in Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and Italy. We have 8 logistics platforms of our own, more than 1,100,000 m² of total surface area in these centers, and 65,000 m² of refrigerated capacity. The group provides services in 29 countries with its own fleet, consisting of more than 3,000 vehicles.

In 2024, it managed 300,000 trips with 500 million kilometers traveled, transporting 6 million tons of goods, i.e., some 8 million pallets per year. Its market share in the fruit and vegetable export segment connecting Spain and Portugal to Europe is estimated at between 10 and 12%. It closed the 2024 financial year with €685 million in turnover.
"In the 2024/2025 campaign, we have been certified as Authorized Economic Operator (AEO); an addition to our customs management service Primatransit. We already have our first logistics platform in Belfort, France, with more than 77,000 m², as well as another in San Antonio de Benagéber (Valencia) with 24 docks that will help boost the groupage sector," says Andrés Valverde, Primafrio's Operations Director.
"In terms of sustainability, we have renewed our international certifications in energy and environmental management, achieved the carbon footprint for the period 2018-2024 under the international regulatory framework GHG (Greenhouse Gas) Protocol, and received the third Lean&Green star from AECOC, among others."

"This campaign has also been marked by technological innovation. Through the AgrarIA project, we have implemented artificial intelligence solutions and digital twins applied to cold logistics, achieving a 15% reduction in energy consumption, a 12% reduction in CO² emissions, and a 20% reduction in response times."
"Our fleet has over 3,000 vehicles and features the latest generation Euro VI diesel tractor units, powered by alternative fuels such as HVO and B100 biodiesel, as well as gas-powered trucks (LNG and CNG). In addition, there is a growing number of BEV (Battery Electric Vehicles) trucks for regional distribution, which reflects our commitment to sustainable and diversified mobility."

"We were the first in Spain to incorporate 100% electric heavy-duty trucks and the most powerful private electric charging infrastructure in the country, intended for regional and medium-distance routes," says Valverde. "Although their technical feasibility has been demonstrated, their scalable deployment still depends on the availability of high-power charging infrastructure and Megawatt Charging Systems (MCS) to ensure sufficient autonomy for long distances. You also need a public funding framework that facilitates the transition, as well as the integration of new operating models, such as battery swapping."
"Overcoming these challenges will not only allow competitiveness to be maintained, but also strengthen the sector's contribution as an economic driver and guarantor of essential supplies," he says.
