EMCO CAL and Berry Plasma join forces

Ekland Marketing Company Inc (EMCO CAL) has concluded its participation in Fruit Attraction 2025 with a notably active agenda in the red fruits sector. A major highlight of its presence at the event was the signing of an exclusive partnership with Berry Plasma, an innovative European program dedicated to enhancing strawberry genetics.

Thanks to this agreement, EMCO CAL will globally market the short-day variety developed by Berry Plasma—its primary focus at this stage—and also some day-neutral varieties. This collaboration broadens business opportunities for international producers and distributors for both companies.

Berry Plasma, which focuses on short-day varieties, also offers day-neutral options. Its selections are renowned for their high productivity, exceptional fruit quality, and ability to adapt to diverse growing conditions.

At the fair, EMCO CAL's technical and sales teams interacted with many clients interested in its varieties and those of partner companies, such as Masiá Ciscar from Huelva and the Cupla blueberry from the Cuna de Platero cooperative in Moguer.

The American company has trial fields, mainly focusing on strawberries, in the province of Huelva. One of its flagship varieties, Florida Fortuna, has covered more than half of the region's strawberry area for over ten years. Another top variety, Florida Pearl, is also cultivated in Huelva, highlighting EMCO CAL's position in the premium segment.
