Fruit Attraction 2025 kicks off

"Like Berlin, only more relaxed"

Dozens of breeders, many international fresh produce trading companies, and more and more horticultural suppliers. That's Fruit Attraction in a nutshell. The popularity of the Spanish trade show anually taking place in fall is growing year after year. The 17th edition of the event kicked of this morning. The fair will host 2,460 exhibitors from 64 countries, an 8.4% increase compared to 2024, occupying over 78,000 square metres—10% more than last year—and is expected to attract over 120,000 professionals from 150 countries.

Fruit Attraction 2025 will use 10 halls at IFEMA Madrid, which are divided by region and sector. The Fresh Produce Area will represent around 70% of the fair, while the Auxiliary Industry section and the Fresh Food Logistics area will highlight cold chain solutions and transport. The Innova&Tech area, including Biotech Attraction and Smart Agro, will expand by 31% from 2024, emphasising innovation and research in the industry. The popularity of the event is growing as many participants describe it as a more relaxed version of Fruit Logistica Berlin.

Tomato day
Among the key parallel activities taking place today, 30 September, at Fruit Attraction is the first day of the Tomato Attraction Forum, scheduled from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the junction of Halls 7 and 9.

The forum will feature a roundtable discussion on "The Geopolitical Implications of the Tomato Trade", with speakers including Ramón Fernández Pacheco, Minister of Agriculture of the Andalusian Regional Government; Eduardo Baamonde, President of Cajamar; and José María Pozancos, Director of FEPEX. The panel will explore how geopolitical factors are shaping the tomato trade, particularly competition from Morocco, which has led to a 31% decline in Spanish production and a 25% drop in exports over the past decade, while Moroccan imports have surged by 269%.
