Hayleys Fibre expands operations with integrated coir facility in Sri Lanka’s Coconut Triangle

Hayleys Fibre PLC, a player in Sri Lanka's coir and coco peat industry with a legacy of 147 years, has expanded its operations with the establishment of the country's first fully integrated coir manufacturing facility in Kadigawa, Nikaweratiya. The development underscores the company's commitment to building a reliable, traceable, and sustainable raw material base while reinforcing its role as a global partner for growers and distributors.

The new 48-acre site is located in Sri Lanka's Coconut Triangle, an area that produces the majority of the island's coir. Its proximity to coconut-growing areas provides easy access to raw materials, while the region's long dry seasons support efficient solar drying and reduce reliance on energy-intensive processes.

Innovation is central to the project. The facility is equipped with custom-engineered machinery that improves processing efficiency compared to regional standards. Purpose-built polytunnels and a specialized coco peat spreading system enable uniform and faster drying, ensuring consistent quality across seasons. The integrated design strengthens the company's ability to meet domestic and export demand with greater continuity and reliability.

The Kadigawa facility highlights this commitment by delivering eco-friendly solutions designed to support professional growers worldwide with products that are consistent, sustainable, and efficient.
