A buyer has stepped forward for five greenhouses owned by RedStar on Voorne-Putten. The company in question is Young Grow, which is about to finalize the deal. With this purchase, Young Grow will add 23 hectares to its production area. The tomato grower already operates a greenhouse in Tinte, and now five more nearby greenhouses will be added to the mix. On top of that, Young Grow also runs a site in 's-Gravenzande.
According to co-owner René de Jong, the company was actively looking for opportunities to expand when this chance came along. Once the deal is complete, Young Grow will be cultivating on more than 37 hectares in total. The new greenhouses in Tinte and the existing Young Grow facility there are located close to each other, although not directly side by side.
RedStar will finish the current crop at the five locations in Tinte and Oostvoorne and then hand over the greenhouses empty after a crop change. Young Grow expects to move in around mid-November, with plans to continue tomato production. They will focus on unlit crops of large truss tomatoes. As part of the takeover, some RedStar employees will also transfer to Young Grow.
As with other recent sales reported by GroentenNieuws, RedStar currently describes the deal as a "sale intention." The transactions are expected to be finalized later this autumn. In Luttelgeest, the buyer is set to be Hoogweg Paprikakwekerijen, while for Dinteloord and RedStar Sales, The Flavour Farm is expected to take over the greenhouses.
