Asparagus
Movement from Mexico crossings through Arizona, California, and Texas is expected to increase slightly. Trading is slow and prices are lower. Eleven-pound cartons of bunched green jumbo are mostly US$36.75–37.75, large mostly US$34.75–36.75, and standard mostly US$32.75–34.75. Supplies are light, with most shipments tied to previous commitments. Imports from Peru through Southern California ports are expected to remain steady. Trading is slow, and prices are mostly unchanged, with jumbo at US$46.00–48.00, extra-large at US$42.50–44.50, large at US$34.00–37.50, and small at US$30.00–32.00.
Avocado
Movement of Mexico crossings through Texas is expected to remain steady. Trading is slow, with prices for conventional 32s and organic fruit unchanged, while others are lower. Hass cartons 32s are mostly US$49.25–50.25, 36s at US$44.25–46.25, 40s at US$30.25–32.25, 48s at US$25.25–27.25, 60–70s at US$23.25–25.25, and 84s at US$22.25–24.25. Organic 48s are US$44.25–46.25, 60s at US$38.25–40.25, and 70s at US$37.25–38.25. In California, movement is decreasing seasonally. Prices of 32s, 48s, and 84s are steady, while others are lower.
Blueberry
Movement from Michigan is decreasing as the season ends. Trading is moderate, and prices are slightly higher, with flats of 12 one-pint cups mostly US$25.00–27.00. Imports from Peru via Miami, Philadelphia, and New York are increasing, though most shipments are pre-booked. Movement from British Columbia through Washington is declining, with insufficient supplies to establish a market. Oregon and Washington supplies are also limited. Imports from Chile are expected to increase, with the first F.O.B. report expected the week of September 28. Mexico's shipments through Arizona, California, and Texas are expected to increase seasonally, with the first F.O.B. report anticipated the week of October 5.
Cucumber
Movement from Mexico crossings through Texas is expected to decrease. Trading is active, and prices are much higher. Cartons of medium are mostly US$19.95–21.95, fair quality US$15.95–17.95, and large US$22.95–24.95. At Otay Mesa, California, movement is also expected to decrease slightly. Prices are slightly higher, with medium at US$18.00 and large at US$18.00–19.00. Michigan shipments are decreasing seasonally, with medium at US$18.00–20.00.
Tomato
Tomato movement from Mexico crossings through Texas is expected to decrease. Trading is moderate, with Vine Ripes cartons 4x4-4x5s mostly US$12.95–14.95 and 5x5-5x6s at US$10.95–12.95. In California's Central District, movement is steady with Mature Greens extra-large and large at US$13.35–14.35. At Otay Mesa, prices are slightly lower, with Vine Ripes 4x4-4x5s at US$13.00–15.00. Alabama shipments are expected to increase, with Vine Ripes 5x6 and 6x6 sizes at US$16.00.
