The Flavour Farm wants to acquire RedStar Dinteloord and RedStar Sales

The Flavour Farm is expanding in the Netherlands with the acquisition of RedStar Sales and RedStar Location Dinteloord. "By joining forces, we strengthen our position in the European flavour tomato market and offer additional value for retail partners," says Gert van Straalen, CEO of The Flavour Farm. Final details are currently being worked out in preparation for the acquisition, which is subject to the usual conditions and approvals. Completion is expected during 2025.

"We are pleased with the proposed acquisition and see in The Flavour Farm a partner that shares our values: passion for taste, innovation, and sustainability," says Irénke Meekma, CEO of RedStar. "For our customers who have relied on us for years and for our people, this means prospects for further development and growth."

Flavour Farm
The Flavour Farm is part of UK investment company Cibus Capital. By acquiring Dutch tomato grower Duijvestijn Tomatoes in 2023, the company kicked off its mission to establish a European network of high-quality growing locations.

"Duijvestijn Tomatoes is one of the most sustainable tomato growers in the sector and provides the basis for further developments," says Gert. "With RedStar Dinteloord, we add a strong team and a modern greenhouse with high-quality growing facilities to our acreage."

The deal also includes sales organisation RedStar Sales, including the RedStar brands. "RedStar is a household name in terms of flavour tomatoes, and the range complements the product portfolio we offer through Duijvestijn Tomatoes. We combine the people and the strong market position and customer relations of RedStar Sales with the cultivation and concept strength of The Flavour Farm."

An important step towards the ambition to become the reference in flavour tomatoes in Europe, he says, and also a reinforcement for their retail and foodservice partners. "A wider range of flavourful and distinctive products, a stable, year-round supply, and even more focus on sustainable cultivation. With this, we are responding to the wishes of our partners, and can support in answering consumer demand."
