The greenhouse complex in Tekeli, Zhetysu Region, Kazakhstan, which has stood inactive since 2019, will be relaunched after securing a new investor. According to Zhetysu Region akim Beibit Isabaev, ₸4.5 billion (€7.1 million) will be invested in restoring the operations of Green House (Zeleny Dom).
Under the new investment plan, operations are expected to restart in autumn 2026. Covering 5.6 hectares, the greenhouse aims to produce 8,700 tons of cucumbers and tomatoes annually, providing a stable year-round supply for local consumers.
"We have been working on restarting this project for two years. With a new investor now in place, work is beginning. The renewed operations will ensure year-round availability of fresh cucumbers and tomatoes," Isabaev said.
The complex was originally launched in 2012 with support from KazAgroFinance, but later became unprofitable. By 2023, its debt had surpassed ₸8.4 billion, according to Orda.kz.
Local authorities confirmed that the greenhouse was transferred to ZetTechnology Kazakhstan through an electronic auction conducted by KazAgroFinance.
