When nine hectares of greenhouse at Agro Care in Middenmeer collapsed, operations came to a sudden halt. It was a major setback for the company and the many people who dedicate themselves to the work there every day. Greenhouse demolition specialist Force Greenhouse Demolition was called in to carefully and safely dismantle the damaged structure. According to schedule, construction of a brand-new greenhouse is now beginning this week.

A top performance
Just days after the collapse, more than 25 professionals were on-site and ready to get to work, recalls Ron van der Helm, director of Force Greenhouse Demolition. "With a tight schedule and full commitment, we aimed for delivery on 6 September 2025—and we achieved it. Our team has delivered an outstanding performance."

At moments like this, he explains, it is essential to show up with a committed team, the right equipment, and above all, care for the people behind the business. New construction
From Agro Care's side, there is little more to add. "It was a nasty incident, but we're grateful that it was only material damage and that no people were harmed. Things can be replaced."
The tomato producer is keeping followers updated via social media. The team in Middenmeer, they report, is "doing well under the circumstances." Staff from the affected greenhouse had to adjust their schedules compared to previous years, but no one was left without work. The collapse happened before the young tomato plants had reached the harvest stage, so no production was lost. The new greenhouse will come into operation after construction is completed, and Agro Care stresses that production can be absorbed in the meantime thanks to their overall acreage.

For the rebuild, Agro Care has contracted greenhouse builder Havecon. "Building greenhouses is what we do, but a project like this is something we've never experienced before," said Havecon's Henk Verbakel in an interview with the regional newspaper Noordhollands Dagblad (link in Dutch).
