"We plan to focus on tomato and strawberry cultivation, as we believe they will thrive in this environment," says Akram Saleh, Nole Investment. According to Akram, greenhouse production in Saudi Arabia faces specific challenges, including extreme temperatures, limited water resources and a scarcity of skilled labor in modern agriculture.
To address these issues, Nole Agriculture collaborates with technology partners such as Priva and Stolze. These companies provide expertise in irrigation, climate control and fertigation. "Still, one of our primary challenges is sourcing the right expertise to effectively manage the greenhouse operations. Ensuring we achieve optimal yield per square meter," Akram notes. "The fact that this project is privately owned allows us greater flexibility and innovation in our approach, ensuring that we can adapt quickly to changing market conditions and consumer preferences."

Larger complex
The greenhouse is part of a larger complex aimed at sustainable agricultural production. While the first phase is nearing completion, the company is considering expansion to 300,000 m², depending on market demand and operational performance. The initial focus is on supplying the regional market, while opportunities for export are also being explored.
"There has been a positive response towards greenhouse-grown produce among Saudi consumers due to its freshness and quality."
