Armenia looking to export to Iraq

RA President Vahagn Khachaturyan received a delegation led by the Minister of Agriculture Jabr al-Maliki, who arrived in the sitting of the Armenian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Iraq.

Welcoming the guests, the President noted that Iraq is an important and reliable partner of Armenia in the Middle East, with which cooperation is developing in the fields of trade, educational, cultural, humanitarian and information technologies.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Minister Mali highlighted the Armenia-Iraqi business forum in Yerevan as an effective platform for promoting ties between business circles and has emphasized the need to make such a periodical to expand the spheres.

The parties stressed the importance of establishing relations between the two countries' business circles and effective cooperation, as well as promotion of business ties in spheres of mutual interest.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the agricultural sector. Both sides stressed that Armenian fruits and vegetables, living animals, meat and dairy products can be of interest to the Iraq market. Restoration of direct flights and freight facilities have been highlighted to promote trade and economic ties.

The parties also stressed the promotion of mutual investment opportunities, as well as the importance of selling cooperation in energy, academic, tourism and other spheres for the implementation of joint programs and deepening relations.
