Webinar: Is the light in your greenhouse enough for your crops?

The Austrian grower Frutura was one of the first users of ProJoules, the model-based cultivation planning platform ProJoules for fruit vegetables. Grower Marcel Rohrborn benefits greatly from the system. During a webinar on September 10, he shares his experiences.

The name ProJoules reveals that the model focuses on light, or more precisely joules, the total amount of light in the greenhouse at plant level. In the Steiermarken region, where Frutura is located, there is often enough, or even too much. High radiation levels, which quickly exceed 3000 joules in the second half of spring, are more the rule than the exception. Insights from ProJoules help the grower manage this, as Marcel already mentioned several years ago on this channel.

On September 10, he shares his experiences in an English-language webinar. This webinar is intended for professionals in horticulture, such as growers, cultivation advisers, technical specialists, and consultants.

Questions discussed include: What role does light actually play in your greenhouse? And how do you know if your crop is getting enough or too much light?

In an interactive session, Marcel and Wim van Wingerden, on behalf of ProJoules, explore the actual impact of light on crop development, with practical insights from daily horticultural practice.

The following topics relevant to professional growers and cultivation advisers will be discussed

  • How light affects plant growth and production;
  • How to measure and interpret light levels;
  • How to manage based on light, including lessons from past seasons.

During the session, practical examples will be shared, addressing both challenges and successes. This informative session focuses on practical knowledge and decision-making. The webinar lasts about 30 to 45 minutes. There is a live Q&A session via chat, and participants can ask questions in advance so that Marcel and Wim can include them in the discussion. The session will be conducted in English.

Register for this webinar on September 10 (16-17 hour) here.
