Van Duijn De Jong Aubergines is expanding. On December 1, the aubergine growers with locations in Westdorpe, Dinteloord, Steenbergen, and Oosterland will take over Kwekerij de Westerschelde in Westdorpe. "This acquisition fits perfectly within our sustainable growth strategy. There is still room in the European market for Dutch aubergines," the growers explain.
From January 2026, Van Duijn De Jong will start aubergine cultivation at this new site, which covers 8 hectares of greenhouse area. "With this expansion, our total acreage will increase to 47 hectares. The greenhouse structures and the packing facility will be adjusted in the near future," the company states.
The new site will be organized in the same way as their four existing locations. Growers United will handle all marketing and sales under the well-known Purple Pride brand.
Piet and Johan Reedijk, who had been looking for a successor for several years, are pleased to transfer the company to Van Duijn De Jong. "The handover and coordination are going smoothly and in good harmony," they say.
