Ukrainians have started eating more vegetables, even during the atypical cold period. This need is mainly met through the export of greenhouse vegetables from Turkey. This was reported by the analyst of the Ukrainian Agrarian Business Club (UKAB) Maxim Gopka on the air of the "Rada" TV channel.
"In recent months, we have observed fluctuations in prices for some basic products, as the plant direction has suffered from adverse weather conditions, and the dairy and meat industries are dealing with a labor shortage," explained the analyst.
Regarding vegetables, he noted that currently, Ukrainian cucumbers and tomatoes from open ground are widely represented on the shelves. The products mainly come from small and medium-sized producers. The development of vegetable growing is being stimulated by grant programs and an increase in consumption: over the past 5-7 years, Ukrainians have started eating significantly more vegetables, even during the atypical cold period.
