TRIC Robotics have announced a $5.5M Seed Round led by Version One Ventures to completely transform how growers protect their food. "Our innovative solution harnesses the power of ultraviolet light for strawberry farmers, offering a highly effective, chemical-free alternative for pest control. With our technology, farmers can achieve more with less, while preserving the environment for future generations", they explain.
The company's robot, Luna, uses ultraviolet light and automation to treat pests and disease - without chemicals. It's already been deployed on over 1,000 acres of open-field strawberries, helping to grow healthier crops while protecting workers, consumers, and the environment.
"We're not just replacing chemicals - we're laying the foundation for bringing automation to specialty crops. With this new funding, we're scaling our fleet, expanding into new regions, and developing innovative capabilities that will unlock an agricultural revolution," said the company in a statement.
"The Luna platform was designed in the same form factor as the legendary Harvest Pro, making it a familiar multi-row platform for strawberry farmers. The base model covers six rows giving Luna a range of 50-100 acres. Luna is capable of carrying several payloads including a boom for UV treatment, bug vacuums, and cameras for collecting real-time plant analytics. With remote start and monitoring larger farms can be cooperatively managed by several robots."
