Voronezh region’s $54M greenhouse project fails to launch in 2024

A planned €49.5 million greenhouse complex in Russia's Voronezh region, announced for opening in 2024, has not been launched, with no new completion date set.

The project envisioned a 13.65-hectare greenhouse complex in the Semiluksky district, capable of producing 7,700 tonnes of vegetables annually and creating 260 jobs.

The Rodina Group CEO stated that there is "no estimated completion date" for the facility. The company also confirmed it has no plans to launch new projects for the time being.

Local news source Abireg writes that when the project was announced in 2023, it was reported that 2.2 billion rubles had already been invested in construction. It was expected to create 260 jobs, and the 13.65-hectare facility was to produce 7,700 tons of vegetables annually. "Interestingly, at the end of July, "Rodina" ended up in court. The "AtomSbyt Energy Company" filed a lawsuit to recover 36.8 million rubles in unpaid electricity bills and 2.6 million rubles in penalties. However, the plaintiff withdrew the claim the very next day", the source writes.
