Tomtech backs UK’s agri-tech push as government investment fuels farming innovation

Tomtech is pledging their support to boosting crop growing productivity, following increased government investment in agricultural technology. According to Farming UK, the UK government has placed agricultural technology at the heart of Britain's growth strategy, allocating £200m for the FIP (Farming Innovation Programme) until 2030.

Agricultural innovators, such as Tomtech, are highlighting the value their industry offers and the opportunities available to growers who adopt smart growing technologies.

"Agri-tech has officially been recognized as a frontier industry with increasing government investment. As a producer of environmental control systems for commercial greenhouses, we are excited not only by the growing recognition our industry brings to food production but also the potential of agri-tech to help more UK growers improve productivity, navigate challenges and keep our supermarket shelves stocked with homegrown fruit and veg" says Krzysztof Hernik, Managing Director at Tomtech.

The 10-year industrial strategy confirms agri-tech and precision breeding as core areas for investment, a move that promises greater opportunities for farmers. It also outlines a series of policy initiatives, including reducing energy costs and expediting drug approvals. With agri-tech included, the farming sector is poised to play an even greater role in delivering economic growth and driving sustainable progress.

As funding into farming technologies increases, so does the demand for Agri-tech innovators that can support the UK's aims of greater yields, productivity, energy efficiency and food security.

"Our technology helps commercial growers replicate the best possible conditions for various crops, enabling them to produce bigger, better and higher yield crops – all year round. As Agri-tech awareness increases, we hope to continue developing our technology and equip more commercial greenhouses with the tools needed to boost productivity," concludes Krzysztof.
