Digital freight forwarder Shypple expands to Germany:

"Digitalization, automation, and reliable data are essential nowadays"

Following the official launch of a digital platform for freight and logistics management at Fruit Logistica, Shypple began its expansion into the global fruit and vegetable industry. The rapidly growing company is already working with renowned importers such as Frutania and Bratzler. However, there is still further growth potential, particularly in Germany, as Lisa Kroll, responsible for the German-speaking region, told us on request.

"We are seeing a huge demand for digitalization, automation, accurate data, and increased efficiency—especially from family-run, traditional trading companies. At the same time, there are long-standing, established partnerships with logistics service providers who enjoy a high level of loyalty. It is important not only to highlight the potential of our platform for companies but also to show that Shypple is a reliable, trustworthy, and professional logistics partner. Our employees are well-experienced in handling perishable imported goods and demonstrate a high level of professionalism. We also believe that the personal contact that remains despite our digital platform is an important factor that must be emphasized," says Kroll (pictured below).

Reducing costs, creating new capacities
Thanks to her professional experience with a renowned fruit importer, Kroll was already able to draw on a large network in the fruit industry. This made it much easier for Shypple to get started in Germany. The company's target group includes not only fruit importers but also anyone who deals with perishable foods and, in the future, nuts, canned goods, and spices. The challenges are virtually the same across the entire food industry. Kroll: "To remain competitive in the long term, digitization, automation, and reliable data are essential. We offer the sector a solution that ultimately leads to a massive reduction in direct and indirect logistics costs. Thanks to these newly gained capacities, employees can also devote themselves to activities that add value to the company."

Following the implementation of the platform in the organizations and existing work processes, the feedback has been consistently positive. "None of our cooperation partners could imagine returning to the previous traditional manual way of working. In addition, we assign a direct contact to each organization who is in close contact with the respective users and quickly addresses any concerns. The potential for improvement is very customer-specific and relates, for example, to functions in the platform that are requested at a later date. We can fulfill the majority of these requests because we developed and programmed the platform from scratch," emphasizes Kroll.

Use of AI-supported processes
Meanwhile, a team of product developers is continuously working on optimizations and new features. "We receive a lot of feedback from our users and strive to implement these suggestions, whether generic or individual. We are also currently working on maximizing the automation capabilities of our platform, including artificial intelligence. Among other things, we could imagine AI-supported processes for the document upload function or the platform's overview page, which would in turn provide an even more precise overview of shipments," she concludes.
