According to data from GeoStat, Georgia increased its spending on imported tomatoes by 13.52% in the first five months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, despite importing a smaller volume.
Between January and May 2025, Georgia imported 18,444 tons of tomatoes for a total of $13.14 million, compared to 19,283 tons for $11.57 million in the same period of 2024. The average import price per kilo rose from $0.60 to $0.71 (excluding taxes).
Turkey remains the dominant supplier, accounting for more than 93% of imports. Other suppliers included Azerbaijan, Iran, Spain, and the Netherlands.

At the same time, Georgia's tomato exports dropped by 34.5%, totaling just $293,000. The main export destinations were Russia (257.2 tons) and Armenia (9.4 tons).
