Tomatoes are among the most popular vegetables in Switzerland. While imports of cherry tomatoes significantly exceed domestic production, the ratio for other tomatoes is balanced. Nevertheless, cherry tomatoes are becoming increasingly important in domestic cultivation: domestic production of cherry tomatoes has doubled since 2010.
In Switzerland, where tomatoes are in season from April to November, a total of around 30,000 tons of tomatoes are harvested each year.
