In 2024, Spain exported 674.43 million kilos of tomatoes, i.e., 17.98% more than the 571.67 million kilos it exported in 2023. In contrast, tomato imports decreased by 12.1%, standing at 209.72 million kilos, according to a report by Hortoinfo based on data from ICEX and the Tax Agency.
Despite the increase in export volume, the value of these sales fell to 1,099.5 million euros, 102.38 million euros less than in 2023. This decrease is due to a reduction in the average price, which went from 2.1 to 1.63 euros per kilo.
Germany remains the main destination for Spanish tomatoes, accounting for 32.05% of all exports (+24% over the previous year). The volume sold to the German market amounted to 216.18 million kilos, worth 383.34 million euros, at an average price of €1.77/kg.
France followed with 85.9 million kilos (+22.51%) worth 101.35 million euros, and an average price of €1.18/kg. The Netherlands ranked third with 63.01 million kilos (-13.08%) valued at 97.64 million euros and an average price of €1.55/kg.
