Applications open for 2025 Horticulture New Zealand Leadership Program scholarships

Applications are now open for the 2025 Horticulture New Zealand Leadership Program scholarships. Horticulture New Zealand (HortNZ) is inviting scholarship applications for the 2025 HortNZ Leadership Program, conducted in partnership with Rural Leaders.

The initiative aims to equip emerging leaders in the sector with skills, tools, and the confidence to lead change and innovation in horticulture. The program, recently updated to reflect the changing demands of the sector, offers participants a practical, hands-on development experience.

It is part of HortNZ's broader efforts to build capability and capacity across the horticulture workforce.

"Supporting leadership development is one of the most powerful things we can do to ensure a strong future for horticulture in New Zealand," says Kate Scott, CEO of HortNZ.

"Our Leadership Program gives participants the skills to step into leadership roles across the sector, whether that's on-farm, in business, or in governance.

"We're proud of the impact the program has had over the years and excited to see how our next cohort of participants will use what they learn to make a difference."

HortNZ is offering 12 scholarships to enable a diverse group of future leaders to take part in the 2025 program. There are also an additional six positions available in the program at a cost of $5,000 plus GST.

Applications are open now and close on Sunday, July 6.
