This year, the campaign peaks between the 2nd and 15th of June, rallying support for UK growers, promoting seasonal eating, and reminding consumers why British tomatoes deserve a place on every plate.
From their premium flavor to their countless culinary uses, British tomatoes offer a wealth of health benefits while supporting British agriculture and sustainability efforts. Here's how they are being celebrated.
A great giveaway – April kicked off with an exciting social media giveaway in collaboration with VonHaus, generating nearly 2,000 entries! The winner received a box of fantastic British tomatoes and a VonHaus pizza oven to create their own tomato-infused masterpieces.
Getting social - Across social media channels, the British Tomato Growers Association has been sharing timeless British tomato recipes – from British tomato sauce and classic salads to easy dinners. They also highlighted the benefits of buying and eating British tomatoes, from their nutritional perks to the reasons why they are loved.
Retailer Support – Leading retailers have also celebrated British growers, showcasing grower stories, promoting products, and sharing delicious recipes that put British tomatoes front and center.
Spreading the Word -- British tomato packages have been sent to key chefs, influencers, nutritionists, and media, encouraging them to spread the word and share their favorite ways to enjoy British-grown tomatoes.
Coming up during the fortnight
In the upcoming fortnight, there are a host of exciting activities planned.
