Dutch politicians impressed by automation of cucumber greenhouse

Cucumber grower Floris van der Linden of Green Diamonds received a visit from the local Dutch CDA party from the Hoeksche Waard on Saturday. During a tour of the greenhouse, they saw that much has been automated, but that the picking itself still remains manual work.

During peak season, as many as 280,000 cucumbers are picked every week. Furthermore, the grower told about his energy supply, for which he invested in a heat pump and also has a CHP.
