In memoriam Cor Disselkoen - colorful visionary of the vegetable trade

Opinionated, remarkable and inspired; this is how Cor Disselkoen's obituary starts. Cor died on 17 July, at the age of 77.

In reactions on the Facebook page 'Reunion Disselkoen Group' , people speak of 'a colourful man' and 'a visionary of the vegetable trade'. He was the first to choose the BVO path (outside the auction) in the early 1990s. At its peak, as many as 30 companies fell under the Disselkoen group. Many people from the fresh produce and flower trade had their apprenticeship with the Westland company, which at the time was among the largest Dutch companies.

During the 2019 reunion of the Disselkoen Group, Cor looked back on this period. "The sense of togetherness between the companies was great. Everyone was ready to grant each other their successes, and we certainly made money. Rarely did anyone leave, only more people joined. Together with Van Dijk Delft and Boers, we were among the largest Dutch fresh produce exporters."

In recent years, Cor moved to Australia, where he focused on local vegetable greenhouses.
