With a median cucumber price of 33.4 euro cents each and tomato prices of just under 50 euro cents per kilo on average, you could say that VBT prices last week were 'pretty ordinary'. Prices remain close to the five-year average. The middle prices for strawberry, sweet pepper and head lettuce are all a bit higher than the five-year average though.
The middle price for 1 kg of loose tomatoes in week 27 was 49.2 euro cents and for vine tomatoes 47.9 euro cents.
The cucumber price occasionally shot back below the five-year average, after weeks of very high prices.
The average price for a kilo of red peppers at VBT was 1.475 euros per kilo in week 27. Yellow peppers cost 1.373 euros per kilo and green ones fetched 1.13 euros per kilo.
The average unit price for cabbage lettuce came to 58.9 euros per unit in week 27. That is still well above the five-year average, but the price did drop quite a bit last week. On the contrary, the price for multicoloured lettuce rose to 82.3 euro cents each.
The middle price for strawberry has been rising for several weeks in a row, reaching an average of 5.529 euros per kilo at the end of week 27.
