The Grainger County Tomato Festival is one month away, but some farmers say they are still struggling to recover from the storm that hit last month.
Shane Pierce's farm has been in his family for nearly 50 years. He loves what he does, but after the storm that swept through the area in May, tomato farming got a little harder.
"From greenhouse to the field crops, it was a significant blow," said Pierce.
In May, Pierce lost over 40% of his farmland, and now, that's not his only challenge for the season. Many of Pierce's greenhouses were destroyed or damaged.
"Now that the greenhouses are open outside, I am having to fight disease," Pierce said.
