Growers introduced to UV robot for combating powdery mildew

In close collaboration with Proefcentrum Hoogstraten, Coöperatie Hoogstraten has started an initiative to push suppliers to come up with practical solutions in the battle against powdery mildew in strawberries. Currently, four different companies are working to have UV robots handle the complete powdery mildew control next year in different cultivation systems for growers from the Coöperatie Hoogstraten. One solution has already proven itself in practice (last year with grower Raf Quirijnen) and was presented last week with much interest to the growers of Hoogstraten, shares the cooperative alongside a video on LinkedIn.

Powdery mildew in strawberries poses serious challenges for growers in terms of sustainability. On one hand, there's the need for crop protection products, and on the other, the infestation jeopardizes the financial sustainability of the business.
