Recently, Hoogweg Paprika Nurseries has kickstarted the construction of a new facility. The new facility will be built in Marknesse (The Netherlands) and is thus close to the already existing Dutch facilities in Luttelgeest and Marknesse. Ultimately, the site will feature 5 greenhouses (approximately 10-11 hectares each), including a central processing area for pepper sorting. Moreover, each greenhouse complex will have an annex.

The project's first phase involves setting up 3 production greenhouses (approximately 31.5 ha). This includes setting up all necessary technical facilities and the installation of energy screens and diffuse glass.
Additionally, Hoogweg will prepare for the future establishment of the other 2 greenhouses. This new expansion includes an extension of the rainwater harvesting system. The first (visible) expansion activities already started. Hoogweg is aiming to start planting in December 2024.
In terms of energy, the new site will be integrated with the existing facilities, such as solar panels and geothermal and biomass installations. The expansion will not be connected to gas.
